This old girl had seen many a season over the Colyton hillside. Built in the early 1900's, she was an early pionering house to a large sheep farm. In the later years she was butchered, walls removed, front removed and made into a hay shed for the farm. A new house was recenty built on land behind and it was time for her to go. She was destined to go into a hole and burnt but some word of mouth talking and i was informed of her fate. I went out, took a look and had 1 week before the digger came on site. We had a mint week weather-wise and got straight to work. The flooring was full of bora, but most of the framing, weather board and floor joist's were made from heart rimu and matai. Stunning timber saved from the fire!! The rimu 5x2 floor joists were such mint heart timber the nails did not want to be removed!!!
