NOVEMBER 2006 Orgionaly built in the 1940's as a shearers cottage for a larger scale sheep farm deep in the pongaroa valley. Built from rimu and totara milled on the farm and tawa flooring brought in from the wellington region. From the outside, she looked like an old shack, tin cladding with a corrugated roof. But the timber was some of the best i had seen in ages, no bora to be seen!! Added on over the years as the searing seasons got bigger, saw various timbers used. In the later 8 years the farm was turned to beef, so the quarters was not used. With the roads too windy to transport the cottage out in 1 piece, Ramze Demolition got the salvage job to recycle as much as we could. 3 days, a good 1 1/4hr drive each way and a few tralier loads later, the timber was back in the yard ready to denail.
