The "GO LEGAL" shop Print
Saturday, 19 May 2007

Built in the early 20's, there were 4 identical houses side by side on the corner of church and pitt st, Palmerston North. Cute narrow houses, side by side on a sloping site. Over the years they had bin modified to create a bit of individuality by the owners and almost looked different from each other in some way. The 4th sister was moved years ago from the corner site, to make way for a Homestead Chicken, then recently a car yard. Most of us remember the 3, and the middle was added onto and made into a dairy, then was a lunchbar for a while. More recently the middle sister had a rough time as a 'party pill, legal herbal high" shop. There was a stand-off between police and someone inside with a crossbow. The police fired tear gas in and the shop burnt down. So she has been empty for a couple of years awaiting her fate.

Recently the 2 outer sisters were moved to new sites and RAMZE DEMOLITION had the job to demolish the 3rd. Through-out demolition, we found evidence in the roof of some 'indoor horticultual activites' and the place was covered in soot and dust from the fire. We saved what we could and recycled some nice heart rimu, and matai weatherboards. A new development will grace the site soon, by the builder/developer.
